Sunset needlework
My adventures into the needlework business happened quite by chance.
My friend and neighbor, Jean Myers, insisted that my artwork would be perfect for her friend’s startup company. Her husband’s fraternity brother at U.C. Santa Barbara was starting a stitchery kit company called Sunset Designs. I submitted some artwork, including the classic “I LOVE YOU” stitchery pattern. My designs were accepted, much to my delight!
Later I worked for Dimensions needlework corporation and Family Circle magazine, among others, as a creative craft and needlework designer.
It is always a wonderful surprise to go into someone’s home and see one of my designs proudly displayed. It is gratifying to know that I have brought a few hours of pleasure to thousands of kindred-spirit needleworkers! It is very humbling to know that someone spent hours lovingly creating one of my designs, a potential heirloom to be passed down to future generations. I would like to say thank you to all of you!
